Quality Imports Toyota cannot emphasize enough the importance of properly maintaining your vehicle's tires.
Proper tire maintenance includes:
Consistently Checking Tire Pressure: Proper tire inflation is the most important aspect of tire maintenance. Improper tire inflation pressure can cause severe internal tire damage and may result in rapid or irregular wear.
Regular Tire Rotation: Routine tire rotation will also help prevent irregular and premature wear. Because of the uneven wear characteristics of each wheel position on the vehicle, rotation is necessary to achieve even tread wear and long tread life.
Replacement of Worn Tires: Tires become unsafe when tread has worn down to 1/16 th of an inch (1.6mm). At that point, tire replacement is mandatory to ensure proper traction and braking for your vehicle.
While not completely part of tire replacement, another good idea given our geographical location is to switch winter or studded snow tires come late fall/early winter.
